Lachlan Murdoch’s Long‑time Adviser Linda Norquay Dies at 51

On June 25 2026, Linda Norquay, a trusted adviser to Lachlan Murdoch for more than a decade, passed away after a brief illness. She was 51 years old. Norquay’s funeral was held at St Mary Magdalene’s Catholic Church in Rose Bay, and she is survived by her husband Clint and their three children, Elena, Lachlan and Thomas.

From Banking to Murdoch’s Inner Circle

Norquay began her career in finance, working as a banker at Macquarie, Barclays and the now‑defunct Allco Finance Group. The global financial crisis of 2008 wiped out Allco, prompting her to shift focus. Around 2010 she joined Lachlan Murdoch’s team, initially assisting with his investments in Nova Entertainment and Network Ten alongside James Packer. Over the years she became known as a reliable fixer and strategist within Murdoch’s private affairs.

Leadership of Illyria and Nova Entertainment

In March 2026, after the departure of longtime confidante Siobhan McKenna, Norquay was appointed chief executive of Murdoch’s private investment vehicle, Illyria, and took the chair of Nova Entertainment. Her promotion came just months before her death, marking a rapid rise from adviser to senior leadership within the Murdoch empire.

Passion for Football and the FFA Bid

A lifelong football fan, Norquay held season tickets for Sydney FC since the A‑League’s inception in the early 2000s, often attending matches with her husband and children. In late 2018 she nominated herself for a seat on the Football Federation Australia board, although the bid was unsuccessful. Her involvement reflected her commitment to community sport beyond the boardroom.

Gabe Perrottet’s Churchill Advisory and Lobbying Questions

Separate from the Murdoch narrative, Gabe Perrottet — brother of former New South Wales premier Dominic Perrottet — launched Churchill Advisory, a firm that markets itself as a strategic partner for Australian fintechs. The company’s website promises “government engagement” services, describing efforts to “shape reform and protect [clients’] strategic interests” through formal and informal channels with policymakers.

When questioned, Perrottet stated that none of Churchill’s activities meet the definition of lobbying under the federal or NSW lobbying codes of conduct, and therefore the firm is not required to register. He added that any future government engagement work would be limited to policy submissions, which the Attorney‑General’s Lobbying Code of Conduct excludes from lobbying activities.

Technology Brothers: The Atlassian Book Launch

The article also touches on the recent release of Tech Bros, a book by John Stensholt and Perry Williams of The Australian that examines the rise of Atlassian. The publication coincided with the company’s announcement of a 10 percent workforce reduction, affecting roughly 1 600 staff. A launch event at HarperCollins’ Sydney headquarters drew a standing‑room‑only crowd, featuring figures such as former banker David Kingston, News Corp Australia executive chairman Michael Miller, and commercial property billionaire Shaun Bonett.
