Kogi State Police Command intercepted a vehicle loaded with 400 wraps of suspected Indian hemp along the Magongo axis of Ogori‑Magongo Local Government Area. Operatives from the Akpafa Division made the catch during a routine stop‑and‑search on the highway.
The suspect, identified as Abdulrahman, was traveling from Edo State to Abuja in a Honda bearing registration number FST 700 DH when officers halted the car.
ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, the Police Public Relations Officer, said preliminary investigations show the man sells and distributes Indian hemp. He added that the consignment, valued at N3.2 million, came from an accomplice known as “Biggy” in Edo State and was meant for delivery to buyers in Abuja.
The suspect and the recovered exhibits have been handed to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation. Police continue to pursue “Biggy” and other network members to expose the full supply chain.
The command appealed to the public for credible information that can help break the criminal network.
Commissioner of Police Naziru Bello Kankarofi commended the operatives for their vigilance that led to the arrest.
