Undercover investigation
State police opened the investigation after receiving a 2026 complaint alleging marijuana sales at Lewistown Tobacco and Vape on South Main Street. Undercover officers purchased raw marijuana, which the Pennsylvania State Police laboratory verified as marijuana, not legal hemp.
Officers observed customers lining up for product stored in large containers inside a glass display case. The sale proved the shop was distributing illegal marijuana.
Marijuana and cash seized
On September 3, police executed a search warrant and seized several pounds of marijuana and THC‑labeled products. Investigators also found California‑origin edible THC gummies and items marked as delta‑8 THC.
Boxes of additional substances and thousands of dollars in cash, believed to be proceeds from illegal sales, were also seized. The haul highlighted the shop’s large‑scale distribution network.
Authorities said a shop employee and the owner claimed ignorance of the illegal products. The investigation remains active.
