Rapper Redman unveiled his Muddy Waters THCA hemp drink at the 2026 NECANN industry convention and 2nd Annual Cannabis Cup in Atlantic City, energizing the Garden State market.
Redman Promotes Muddy Waters Drinks
Rapper Redman, a New Jersey native, launched his Muddy Waters THCA hemp drink at the 2026 NECANN Cannabis Cup. He partnered with Juice Joint, a longtime NECANN exhibitor, and consultants Leo Bridgewater and Reggie Harris, CEO of House of Kush. The coconut water‑infused beverage comes in mango, pineapple and key lime pie flavors.
Connecting Juice Joint with Redman
Juice Joint founders Matthew and Crystal Lovett said Crystal, then eight months pregnant, handled the science while Matthew oversaw operations. Matthew recalled Redman arriving at their home after picking up Leo Bridgewater from the train, and praised the rapper’s courtesy toward the pregnant owner.
Fighting for Federal Cannabis Legalization via Descheduling
Redman leads the United Empowerment Party, making cannabis descheduling its core mission. He noted that he and Method Man missed industry deals in the 1990s because of rap lyrics referencing weed, and said the new drink signals a shift toward legitimate commerce. A federal hemp ban scheduled for December 2026 may affect distribution, prompting plans to place Muddy Waters in New Jersey dispensaries, liquor stores and smoke shops.
2nd Annual NECANN NJ Cannabis Cup
Event organizer Marc Shepard opened the second NECANN NJ Cannabis Cup, with judging performed by the Ganjier Guild. Jason Ward presented awards across flower, pre‑roll, concentrate, gummy, beverage and vape categories, showcasing the state’s expanding product diversity.
NECANN Show Floor Buzz
Attendees observed a bustling convention floor with multiple brands, formal panels and product booths. Jim Belushi was spotted on the floor but remained unavailable for comment. Mike Wiehl led a panel urging legalization of home cannabis gardening in New Jersey, while the NJ Cannabis Trade Association, NJ Cannabis Chamber of Commerce and the Coalition for Medical Marijuana of New Jersey tabled information throughout the venue.
